Day 18 Almost a permanent resident of Pond Inlet

I briefly talked to Jack on the sat phone today
He didn't have alot of time as his social calendar was filled up =)
He had been to the hotel, where there is limited internet, so he could download some pictures.
He had dinner there which he said was, beef tenderloin but I got to thinking, there are no cows up there, maybe it was cariboo ??
Will have to ask next time we talk.
He had to rush away because his friend the helicopter pilot, who had re-built his engine in 6 hours, was just landing from a test run so I am sure there was lots to discuss.

He had been on a tour around town and the outlying area with the airport manager. Here are some pictures.
Saw the watershed treatment facility which is fed by a stream from the melting ice

 local lawn ornaments, whale bones

dogs eat the hunt leftovers, chewing on a caribou bone

rush hour on the ice but as Jack said, many lanes going fishing and seal hunting

even in this brown, barren rocky land there is still some color

So again Jack hopes to get out of pond inlet tomorrow.
It isn't the weather there now that stops him it is the next 3 stops on the list.
Clyde River, Pangnirtung and iqaluit.
He does not seem to be too worried and is making lots of new friends.
He says the folks are very friendly, helpful and tidy too, everyone takes their shoes of when they go into the Hotel/restaurant

Beautiful shots Jack. Amazing where you can see delicate purple flowers isn't it? Thanks. Jamie
